The ferrata Zandonella, is named after the two Zandonella brothers Mario and Giuliano, mountaineers and members of the CAI Comelico group. It was built in 1978/1979 and it covers a steep war time route originally built by the alpine military soldiers during the First World War to reach strategic lookout posts and supply troops. A moderate route on solid and clean rock, divided into two stretches, starting and finishing near the Passo della Sentinella. This climb allows you to reach the summit of Croda Rossa (mt.2936), one of the most panoramic peaks of the whole Popera Group. You’ll have some stunning views of the Comelico Valley, and Sesto Valley and the bordering Austrian ridge crests and peaks.
